Casale to participate in US green ammonia pilot project

We are pleased to announce that Casale, as member of a team that comprises RTI, University of Minesota, Nutrien, GE, Shell, Nel Hydrogen, Xcel Energy, Great River Energy, Ottertail Power, Chemtonergy, Texas Tech University, Pacifica and Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI) will participate in an effort towards the realization of a 1 t/day of green ammonia pilot plant, comprising water electrolysis, ammonia synthesis and ammonia separation and utilisation.

RTI International will lead the consortium and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Project Agency Energy (ARPA-E) will provide adequate funding.

The aim of the project will be to validate and demonstrate the concept of an ammonia production 100% powered from renewables as well as testing the flexibility of the whole system, providing evidence of the Casale’s flexible loop design and refining the overall control strategy to follow the load of intermittent renewable energy sources.
