Understanding of the Position

While our clients’ projects are located all over the world, the position will be at the HQ in East Asia.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Process / Mechanical Engineer with a profound understanding of ammonia primary reformer technology to join their dynamic team. As a Principal Process / Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge solutions for their prestigious projects in the fertilizer industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of projects involving ammonia primary reformer technology, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional project teams, including process engineers, mechanical engineers, and technicians, throughout the project lifecycle

  • Conduct thorough analysis and optimization of primary reformer units to maximize efficiency, productivity, and reliability while minimizing operational costs and environmental impact

  • Collaborate closely with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements, address technical challenges, and deliver innovative solutions that exceed expectations

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, advancements, and best practices in ammonia primary reformer technology, and leverage this knowledge to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organization

Job requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the design, engineering, and/or operation of ammonia production plants, with a strong focus on primary reformer technology
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large-scale engineering projects from conception to completion, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering results on time and within budget
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in the design, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of primary reformer units, including steam reforming and catalytic ammonia synthesis processes
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, PRO/II) and engineering design tools commonly used in the ammonia industry
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences and build collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Fluency in English

If you have experience with ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions/Uhde (Germany), Kirchner (Italy), Heurtey Petrochem (France), ITT (Italy), Petro-Chem Korea (South Korea) related primary reformer technologies or worked with or at those companies, we are very interested to connect with you! We would also urge other candidates with process engineering or even operation management experience regarding ammonia reformer processes, to react!
